V's pet band of the moment
So I'm all about One Republic lately. I don't listen to the radio much, but a couple of weeks ago I was in the car and I heard this amazing song. I googled it, and it turned out to be a Timbaland remix of this song by One Republic. The Timbaland remix was great (I can't believe I'm actually writing that), but I was curious as to what they'd sound like without an R&B mastermind at the helm, so I gave their album a listen. OMG y'all, it's some gorgeous music. Incidentally, they're using this song in the ads for Atonement on DVD. Atonement made me cry like the girl I am.

Most of the videos on YouTube were of the inferior Timbaland remix. I mean, feel free to go looking for that if you're curious - but I much prefer the original. This is apparently a fan-made video, and is possibly the most professional fan-made YouTube video I've ever seen. It has production values and editing and stuff. Hey E, give this another chance. The one I made you listen to last weekend was the remixed version, I bet you'll like this a lot more.

Comedy Gold
I found this yesterday and nearly peed myself laughing at it. Sadly, part of it is no longer available, so I'm gonna have to give y'all some brief setup.

Okay, y'all know Yahoo Answers? Well, someone posted the dumbest question ever. I was planning to link directly to their question, but it has since been deleted. Anyway, there were several rational and coherent answers to this unbelievably stupid question, but the one the asker selected as "best" was even more bizarrely stupid than the original question.

The bad news is, you can't see the actual question/answer page for yourselves. The good news is, a screenshot of it will helpfully scroll along at the bottom of the following Dramatic Interpretation. Make sure you have your sound on, kids. And you probably don't want to be eating or drinking anything when you click this. Enjoy!

State Of The Blog Address
In which Marchy March is the Funky Month.

I heard someone say that on the radio this morning, and it really stuck with me. I don't know about y'all, but March 2008 has been frigging weird over here on my end.

I promise I've not abandoned you, dear readers. All three of you. Here is what's going on.

1. V's hard drive is failing. Like, seriously badwrong failing. It's only been through several miracles of technology and help from my geek friends that I'm still online (and as far as I can tell, saved all my critical data). That was a close call. A really close call.

2. It just occurred to me - my hard drive failure started on Saturday the 15th. Beware the Ides of March, yo. Now I'm picturing dozens of tiny Romans plunging knives into my poor hard drive. Et tu, Windows?

3. Tomorrow hopefully I'll have a shiny new hard drive and a fresh re-install of windows. Then I get to go through that whole fantastic process of Getting Things Back The Way I Like Them. Supplies needed: screwdriver, XP install disk, chocolate.

Once everything is up and running again, I'll get back to posting delicious snark.

Meanwhile, I just want to give a shout out to the brave people of Tibet. It's time the rest of the world did something about China's demented oppressive regime. I hear they're beating up school kids now, and that's taking evil to a whole new level. The only good point about this situation is that it's put Tibet back in the media spotlight. As a Buddhist, this situation is something I'm generally aware of, but I realize that the problems in Tibet are way below most peoples' radar. It really bothers me that the nations of the world can gang up on countries to steal their oil (under the pretense of 'helping' them), but we can't be arsed to step up and actually help the people who really need and deserve it. Okay, rant over.

I will now click the button that says "publish post" and hope that windows hangs in there long enough to get the job done...

Lend me your ears!
OK, I know how V. misses ROME like I do, we were reminiscing about it and how there might not be any more. So, I had a day off yesterday and caught a little of this hidden gem on one of the free digital channels and mentioned it to V. Look V! OK, it's not ROME, but it'll help fill the gap for a while...

I apologize for the Blog Apathy
So yeah, I had that Death Flu that was going around, and then ended up with a rib injury... so, I was feeling like total hell for 3+ weeks there. But I was reminded today that at least one of my friends does actually still read this, and she's sick of looking at the La Moustache photo. So L, this is for you. While I think about stuff to actually blog, here is a video by the lovely Morrissey, which has some relevance in light of the last email I shared with L.
